CIU recovers online defrauded money

KISHTWAR, Apr 27: Cybercrime Investigation Unit (CIU) of J&K Police here today recovered the online defrauded money amounting Rs. 1,29,450.
Sharing details District Police Kishtwar informed that a complaint was received from Tariq Hussain, son of Bashir Ahmed, resident of Nali Bunjwah, Kishtwar that he received a link from the Telegram App regarding the installation of a 3rd party App (ClerTrip) for working from home and he continuously sent money, amounting to Rs. 1,29,450 and then learnt that it was a fraud with him.
During enquiry, CIU Kishtwar used advanced technical skills which led to successful recovery of the defrauded money.
A handout stated that throughout the year, CIU Kishtwar successfully recovered a total amount of Rs. 7,16,446 which was swindled by online scams.
District Police Kishtwar has appealed to the general public to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious online activities to National Cybercrime Helpline Number 1930 or CIU Kishtwar at 9103416100 or PCR Kishtwar at 9906154100, 9103454100.
