JAMMU, May 15: A deputation of State Committee of CITU led by Sham Parsad Kesar a senior leader of CITU today met Divisional Commissioner Jammu over the matter arising between the management of M/s Patels Engineers Limited/M/s ITD Ltd. and Workmen’s Union such as recruitment of local residents as per Government notification, reinstatement of 08 terminated workers and implementation of minimum wages.
The delegation informed the Divisional Commissioner  that both the companies are engaged for execution of Railways Track from Katra to Reasi.
The deputation apprised Divisional Commissioner that the management has terminated 08 workmen with mala-fide interests only because of their Union activities as they had been demanding local recruitment and implementation of minimum wages etc. Moreover, the services of these workmen are terminated during pendency of conciliation proceedings before the RLC (Central) Labour Court Jammu.
The delegation said as per ID Act no employer can throw the workmen out of job during the pendency of any conciliation proceedings before a Conciliation Officer and seven days after the conclusion of such proceedings.
The Divisional Commissioner assured the deputation to direct the concerned authorities for intervention into the matter to resolve the genuine issues at the earliest.
It may be recalled that the Worksmen’s Union is on protest for last three days.
