CII, PHDCCI delegations call on Industries Minister

JAMMU, Apr 15:   A delegation of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) members met Chander Parkash,  Minister of Industries and Commerce,  to present CII recommendations for New Industrial Policy of J & K.
Sanjay Puri, former chairman CII, J&K Council and Managing Director PBI India Ltd briefed the minister about various recommendations of CII on Infrastructure development, availability of land, rehabilitation of sick units, skill development, green Initiatives, as also ease of doing business that include easing out various permissions by different departments, taxation related issues like Toll Tax, Form 65,  Entry Tax, VAT etc, and related incentives including CIS, interest subsidy, Power subsidy etc.
Raju Chowdhary,  former  Chairman CII J&K State Council and Managing Director K C Group, said that service sector industries should also be given incentives at par with manufacturing sector. Vicky Mahajan, former Chairman CII J&K State Council and Managing Director of M/s Tawi Botllers, said to look at the issue of effluent treatment plant in Samba which has still not come up due to lack of drainage system.
Khurshid Ahmad Ganai, Financial Commissioner, Industries and Commerce, Government of J & K assured the inclusion of all positives from the CII recommendations in the new industrial policy which is under finalization. He further said that the final draft of new industrial policy will be shared with other concerned departments for their inputs by May end and then put before the cabinet for final approval.
Meanwhile, a delegation of PHD Chamber of Industries and Commerce, Jammu, also called on Minister for Industries and Commerce and apprised him of their issues seeking immediate remedial measures.
“A strong coordination and team spirit is imperative for attaining higher economic growth, rather a pre-requisite for entrepreneurship and industrial development for emerging economies”, the Minister maintained while ensuring the delegation all support in their endeavours.
The minister  assured the delegation that all possibilities would be explored to supplement their ventures of enhancing two way trade, industrial collaborations and technology transfer for rapid industrial growth in Jammu and Kashmir. He emphasized upon the PHD Chamber to step up efforts through its research-based policy and advocacy role so that an encouraging impact could be made on economic growth and development in the state.
President PHDCCI, Vikrant informed the Minister that the Chamber is a proactive and dynamic multi-State apex organisation working at the grass-root level with strong national and international linkages. Besides, it acts as a catalyst in promotion of industry, trade and entrepreneurship.
