JAMMU, Aug 29: A CII delegation led by Jayant Davar – chairman, CII Northern Region co-chairman and managing director, Sandhar Technologies Ltd had an interaction with the Members of Parliament from J&K.
During the course of interaction, the delegation presented the agenda of the CII Northern Region for 2013 -14. Dr Sudhir Kapur, chairman, regional committee on CSR and managing director and CEO, Country Strategy Business Consultant Pvt Ltd, shared details about the work done by CII in CSR. Anil Mahajan, chairman CII, J& K State Council and Director K C Group of Industries gave a brief on the focus areas of CII in the State.
The MPs who were present during the interaction were Union Minister for New and Renewal Energy, Dr Farooq Abdullah, Mohammad Shafi, Sharif-ud-din Shariq, G N Ratnapuri, and Prof Saif-ud-Din-Soz.
On the occasion, Dr Farooq said that there is a dire need for the State to have Single Window Clearance System for easy setup of Industry. There is need for the investors to realize that the State has great scope in renewable energy in Ladakh region.
Responding to the issues of central excise and environment clearance for industries in the State, Dr Abdullah assured that he will accompany the CII representatives to take up the matter with the relevant departments of the Centre. He also assured the delegation that he will look into the matter that Lakhanpur toll post be remained open round the clock for the benefit of the industry in J & K.
Sharif-ud-din Shariq said that the dearth of skilled persons in the State can be covered by upgrading the infrastructure and curriculum of ITIs and polytechnics of our State.
Sheikh Imran, chairman, CII Kashmir Zone and Director Kashmir Sunsilk Pvt Ltd, Sanjay Puri- managing director PBI Metals India Pvt Ltd, and Varun Singla, Director Singla Cables were also part of the delegation.
