LEH, Sept 22: Students of Central Institute of Buddhist Studies (ClBS) who had been sitting on protest from the past two months decided to call off their protest today. However, no student will attend classes till their demands are redressed.
This was announced by the Student’s Welfare Committee (SWC) CIBS President Padma Tashi while addressing a press conference here today.
Padma said that Additional Incharge Vice Chancellor is appointed following the students protest but this is not the complete solution and many more demands are yet to be fulfilled which includes appointment of Finance Officer, Examination Controller and regular VC. He added that CIBS should get full-fledged staff as per UGC norms.
He added that Vice-Chancellor had promised to make marks certificate of Class-PM and UM students of past five years within week time however the marks certificates have not been made available so far.
The students of University classes Shastri 1st, 2nd and 3rd year and Acharaya 1st and 2nd year will not attend their offline/online classes till regular Registrar, Controller of Examination and Finance Officer are not appointed, he said.
He also informed that Former MP and LBA President Thupstan Chhewang had gone to Delhi with student grievances and students expressed their gratitude to him for taking the student’s pain. The students also expressed their anguish over Ladakhi leaders’ especially public representative for not taking their demands seriously.
