SRINAGAR, Mar 15: Churuda village, located on the Line of Control in the Uri area of Baramulla district, finds itself in dire straits due to the prolonged closure of its access road, which has persisted for the past four months.
Residents voiced their distress over the impediment, which has created significant challenges for daily commuters. They said that despite government assurances, the Thajal to Churuda road has been blocked for four months, severely impacting the lives of our villagers. “Patients are being carried on shoulders for medical treatment,” Lal Hassan Kohli, a resident, said.
The gravity of the situation is underscored by locals who highlight the risks posed, particularly to expectant mothers, due to the lack of road connectivity. “The absence of proper roads could have fatal consequences, especially for patients requiring urgent medical care,” he said.
The ordeal extends beyond inconvenience, affecting the supply of essential commodities to the village. Despite efforts to address the issue with relevant authorities, residents lament the lack of progress. “We urge the LG administration to prioritise the reopening of the road link, as it is vital for our community’s livelihood and well-being,” the residents said.
