BJP to tie up with Ind in Kashmir

JAMMU, Nov 5: Close on the heels of yesterday’s meeting with Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, party national president, J P Nadda and other senior leaders, the BJP High Command has deputed party national general secretary, Tarun Chug to Jammu tomorrow to take stock of situation in the UT regarding the ensuing District Development Council (DDC) elections and prevailing political and security scenario in the UT.
According to sources, during his hectic schedule tomorrow, Tarun Chug soon after his arrival in the winter capital will hold a meeting with senior office bearers from Kashmir valley and discuss the prevailing political and security scenario especially in view of the recent terrorist attacks on BJP activists in Valley where three party men were killed in Yorkhoshipora area of Kulgam district in South Kashmir some days back with them.
Sources said, Chug will ascertain views of the Kashmiri leaders on the party’s participation in the DDC elections and prevailing security of the party men there.
The names of probable candidates for DDC elections will also be discussed with these leaders. The meeting, besides the senior leaders from Valley will also be attended by J&K BJP president, Ravinder Raina, party general secretary (org) Ashok Kaul, BJP national secretary, Dr Narinder Singh and Prabhari Kashmir and another general secretary, Vibodh Gupta, sources said.
This will be followed by the meeting with the office bearers from Jammu region in the day which will be attended by the senior office bearers of the party, Prabharis and Morcha leaders. In the evening, the party Core Group will meet at BJP Head Quarters, Trikuta Nagar and threadbare discuss the feedback received from the earlier two meetings especially regarding the measures needed to be taken for the security of the party leaders and candidates contesting the DDC elections as well as Sarpanches, Panches and Councilors in Kashmir valley.
The senior leaders will also apprise the members from Kashmir and Jammu about the outcome of their meetings with Union Home Minister, Amit Shah and party national president, J P Nadda and will assuage their feelings regarding security of the partymen in Kashmir valley in view of the assurance given by Shah that the security will be provided to DDC candidates and Panchayat representatives besides the security concerns of all party men will be addressed.
Sources said that BJP which is going to tie up with some independent candidates in Kashmir during the ensuing DDC elections will also seek opinion of its leaders from the valley on the name and choice of the probable independents whom the party can support in those constituencies where it is not in a very strong position.
The party has decided to support such Independent candidates in those constituencies who are men of integrity, have good public reputation besides are nationalists by core and also competent and well educated, sources added.
Sources said that the BJP with the help of some independent candidates will contest all 140 DDC seats in all 10 districts of Kashmir Valley while it will contest all the 140 seats in Jammu region on its own without any tie up with any party.
Sources said that the name of probable candidates will also figure during the meetings with Chug.
BJP J&K president, Ravinder Raina while confirming this said the party will contest all 140 DDC seats in Jammu region while it will have a tie up on some seats with independents in Kashmir valley. He, however, did not divulge that how much seats it will contest on its own in Kashmir Valley and on how many others it will have a tie up with Independents, saying that the picture will become clear after the feedback received from the leaders of Valley tomorrow.
He said that the party will support those Independent candidates in Valley who have a good reputation and are working for the public welfare.
