JAMMU, July 16: Shiv Sena and Dogra Front activists under the leadership of their President, Ashok Gupta here today staged a protest demonstration by ringing bells and carrying the posters of Lord Shiva.
The protesters were demanding the start of chopper services from Jammu to Pahalgam and to Chandanwari onwards to facilitate the Amarnath pilgrimage.
The Yatra has been suspended for the last 7-8 days due to inclement weather.
Speaking on the occasion Gupta said that poor conditions of the roads en-route the holy cave have further multiplied the problems of pilgrims.
“The death toll of pilgrims has reached 21 in this year pilgrimage due to bad roads,” Gupta said appealing to the PM Modi to get improve the quality of roads to the pilgrimage.
He also demanded that the chopper service for the pilgrimage should be at a subsidised rate so that more pilgrims can pay obeisance to the Shivling.
Rakesh Kumar, Sushil, Vijay Kumar, Bodh Raj, Nanki Devi, Pushpa Devi, Dinesh, Bantu and various others were present in the protest demonstration.
