Chilli, turmeric rise Rs 100 per quintal as demand picks up

NEW DELHI, June 27: Red chilli and turmeric prices rose by Rs 100 per quintal in the national capital today on rising demand from local parties as well as overseas enquiries.

Red chilli and turmeric prices rose by Rs 100 each to settle at Rs 8,500-13,000 and Rs 7,600-12,300 per quintal, respectively.

Traders said buying by stockists and pick-up in export demand pushed up chilli and turmeric prices on the wholesale kirana market here.

Following are today’s quotations per quintal:

Ajwain 14,500-19,500, black pepper (per kg) 750-950, betel-nut (kg) 180-200, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 1,300-1,415 and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 1,450-1,600.

Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 680-730, cardamom (colour robin) 660-720, cardamom bold 710-730, cardamom extra (bold) 880-930 and cloves (kg) 950-1,000. (PTI)
