Chilli, turmeric fall on subdued demand

NEW DELHI, Oct 29: Red chilli and turmeric prices slipped by Rs 100 per quintal in the national capital today owing to subdued demand from retailers and stockists amid adequate stocks.
Chilli and turmeric prices fell by Rs 100 each to conclude at Rs 9,500-18,500 and Rs 8,000-11,800 per quintal, respectively.
Marketmen said sluggish demand from retailers and stockists against adequate stocks, mainly pulled down chilli and turmeric prices.
Following are today’s quotations (in Rs):
Ajwain (per kg) 170-230, black pepper (per kg) 710-840, betel-nut (kg) 245-300, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 970-990 and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 1,030-1,250.
Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 925-1,050, cardamom (colour robin) 820-830, cardamom bold 860-870, cardamom extra (bold) 960-980 and cloves 540-690. (PTI)
