RAJOURI, July 2: A 6-year-old innocent child died after he fell into a pond near his house at Tarkassi in Kotranka area while a youth downed in Nallah in Chingus area of district Rajouri today.
Police souirces said that the pond had been created for drinking water for cattle near the house of the child at the village. It said the mishap took place when Afraz Khan (6), son of Shahbaz Khan was playing near the pond made for cattle near the house. His foot slipped while playing and he fell into the pond and drowned.
The family members with the help of local people pulled out the child from the pond after a lot of efforts and took him to Kotranka hospital where the doctors declared him as `brought dead’.
Taking cognizance of the matter, police handed over the dead body to the family after completing the legal formalities.
Meanwhile another man died while taking bath in local river at Androoth village of Chingus on Sunday.
Reports said Mohd Faizi (24), son of Mohd Mushtaq resident of Androoth drowned and died while taking a bath in Janbeer Nala. The dead body was fished out by the locals from the Nallah. The police handed over the body to family members after completing legal formalities at local PHC at Chingus.
