BANDIPORA, Apr 22: The inhabitants of Chichinar area in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district are up in arms against the Government for failing to construct a bridge over Chichinar Nallah to provide safe connectivity to the people of several villages in the area.
As per locals, wooden plank placed on the Nallah at main Chichinar have become a death trap. “Non availability of this vital bridge is causing immense hardships to the inhabitants, living on the either sides of the Nallah. In absence of the bridge, residents including children, women and elderly people are forced to walk over this slippery wooden plank,” they said
“We are more concerned about the safety of our children who use these wooden planks daily to reach their educational institution or shops which are located on the other side of the Nallah,” Mohammad Anwar Chichi, a local said
He said successive regimes have failed to construct the bridge though RDD under PMGSY Scheme constructed a fair weather road several years ago for the village that too is in shambles now. “During the rainy season, the water level raises and touches the wooden plank which creates problem for the pedestrians” he added.
