Udhampur, May 4: Vice Chairman J&K State Advisory Board for Development of Kisans Daljit Singh Chib today under took tour to Chenani, Gharian, Bhain and Tandhar areas in District Udhampur and took stock of the damages to the garlic and onion crop.
Director Agriculture, Dr.S.S. Jamwal and other officers accompanied the Vice Chairman during the visit .
Daljit Singh Chib said that shortly a team of experts from SKUAST-Jammu along with Chief Agriculture Officer, Udhampur will visit the areas to ascertain the causes of crop damages.
He assured that the issue of compensation to the farmers whose crops were damaged would be taken up with the concerned after obtaining report from the experts.
While addressing the farmers, he said that Government has initiated numerous measures for welfare of the farmers, adding that the J&K State Advisory Board for Development of Kisans functions as a bridge between the Government and the farmers to address their issues expeditiously. He reiterated that the Government is giving due attention to redress the problems of farmers and various welfare programmes are underway to improve their economic conditions.
