Chib, Kundal, CEC call on Governor

SRINAGAR, Oct 11:  R. S. Chib, Minister for Youth Services and Sports and Medical Education, met  N. N. Vohra, Governor, at Raj Bhavan here today afternoon.
Chib discussed with the Governor certain issues pertaining to the welfare of ex-servicemen. He thanked the Governor, who is Chairman of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, for the Board undertaking the construction of a stadium at Katra.
He also briefed the Governor about the initiatives being taken for the promotion of sports and the implementation of schemes aimed at the welfare of the youth. B. R. Kundal, Member of the State Legislative Council also called on  Mr. Vohra .
Mr.  Kundal discussed with the Governor various issues of public importance, including the functioning of the administrative apparatus, the crucial importance of ensuring transparency and accountability in all spheres of functioning and the need for speeding up the implementation of development schemes and programmes.
Rigzin Spalbar, Chief Executive Councillor, Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Leh and  Norbu Gyalstan, Member of the State Legislative Council also called on  Mr. Vohra.
Mr. Spalbar and  Gyalstan discussed with the Governor various problems being faced by LAHDC regarding the development of the Ladakh region and also briefed him about the implementation of the various development works and welfare schemes in the Leh district.
Meanwhile, a delegation of the All Jammu and Kashmir Sports Association of the Deaf met  Mr. Vohra and submitted to him a memorandum of their demands.
The main demand presented by the delegation led by  Mohammad Saleem Wani, Hony General Secretary of the Association, included affiliation of this Association with the J&K State Sports Council for the promotion of silent games in the State.
The Governor gave a patient hearing to the delegation and urged Dalip Thussu, Secretary, J&K State Sports Council, who had been invited to participate in the meeting, to most urgently consider this demand so that the differently-abled persons, particularly the deaf and dumb, get adequate opportunities to demonstrate their sporting talents.  Mr. Thussu informed the Governor that this demand of the All Jammu and Kashmir Sports Association of the Deaf is already under consideration and will be favourably viewed in the forthcoming meeting of the General Council to be chaired by the Chief Minister.
The deputation comprised  A. R. Wani, Vice Chairman of the Association,  Aftab Ahmad Kanthi, President and  S. P. Singh, Treasurer.
