SRINAGAR: The traditional rituals associated with annual pilgrimage to Holy Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas commenced today on the occasion of ” Vyas-Purnima”.
A spokesman for Deshnami Akhara said the Chhari-Mubarak, the holy Silver Mace of Lord Shiva, left Deshnami Akhara, Budshah Chowk area of the city this morning at 0515 hrs for Pahalgam, about 100 km from here in Anantnag district of south Kashmir.
”Bhoomi Pujan and Dhwajarohan” ceremonies would be performed at Pahalgam by Mahant Deependra Giri, custodian of Chhari Mubarak.
He said after performing the rituals, Chhari-Mubarak will return to Dashnami Akhara in the evening.
However, pujan will also be performed at Historic Martand Temple, Mattan, Anantnag, on way from Pahalgam to Srinagar. (AGENCIES)
