SAMBA, Feb 9: Social Welfare Department organized “Cheque Distribution-cum Awareness Camp” at Vijaypur.
The camp was inaugurated by MLA Vijaypur and former Cabinet Minister Surjeet Singh Slathia.
While speaking, Slathia said that the Coalition Government has taken a number of steps for the betterment of the weaker sections.
He further said that adequate promotion needs to be given to different schemes launched in rural development, agriculture and employment sectors so that those living in the rural areas are made aware of the benefits extended under various schemes.
Earlier, District Social Welfare Officer, Jasmeet Singh presented a resume of activities of the department.
Among others present were ADC, Bikram Singh Jamwal, officers of Social Welfare Department, Sarpanchs and Panchs and local populace.
