DODA, Aug 4: Secretary (publicity), J&K Congress Nadeem Sharief Niaz, has alleged that workers of Chenab region engaged by various Hydel Power projects authorities and other companies are being victimized while State Government has failed to protect their rights.
In a press statement here Nadeem said that since 2014 due to increase in unemployment in Chenab region in general and remote areas like Bhallessa, Bhaderwah, Chiralla and Basnota in particular, skilled and unskilled labourers, educated youth, contractors, labour suppliers and sub contractors are immigrating to other parts of State and country in search of jobs and labour.
Although Chenab valley which is rich in water resources has potential to generate millions of jobs in hydro projects and other kinds of potential projects but since 2014 after PDP-BJP has formed Government in state, these people are facing victimization and unemployment. Not even single new project in the area has been taken up by the new Govt.
He said that in search of jobs, labour, people are immigrating to other parts like Jammu, Srinagar, Himachal Pradesh and even outside country like Sikkim and Bhutan. Even those working in the companies here are facing victimization. He urged upon the concerned authorities to protect the rights of the workers.
