UDHAMPUR, Feb 22: Continuing JKP’s drive to contain the spread of narcotic drugs & psychotropic substances, Udhampur Police today arrested a chemist shop owner among four drug peddlers and recovered 26 grams of heroin from their possession.
Three accused were arrested from Bharat Nagar, near Railway Colony Udhampur when a Police patrolling party, led by SHO Udhampur, Insp Chanchal Singh, under the supervision of SDPO Sahil Mahajan intercepted them.
During the search, 26 grams of heroin was recovered from the accused persons, identified as Rakesh Kumar alias Raju, son of Mohan Lal of Kambal Dunga, A/P Bharat Nagar Udhampur, Kewal Krishan alias Billa Mashi, son of Channu Ram of Bhugtian, Tehsil Ramnagar, A/P Housing Colony Udhampur and Girdhari Lal, son of Mani Ram of Rathian Udhampur.
Cash of Rs 10000 and one weighing scale were also recovered from them. These three drug peddlers were arrested and heroin like substance was also seized on the spot.
On disclosure of these accused persons, police party arrested their one more associate, identified as Raj Kumar (owner of Chemist shop), son of Jia Lal of Bharat Nagar, Udhampur, who assisted them by providing insulin syringes on regular basis.
In this connection, a case FIR number 76/2021 U/S 8/21/22/27-A/29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Udhampur and further investigation is going on.
