Sir,
Nature has provided us everything we need for our survival. But, by his selfish nature, man has exploited the natural resources so ruthlessly that we have caused problems such as climatic change, unseasonal rains, global warming etc.We have degraded the earth by our reckless actions such as water pollution, soil pollution, air pollution and by reckless felling of trees. These days plastic has become a part of our life.We use plastic bags, bottles, toys, shampoo bottles etc.Due to lack of awareness and proper and efficient disposal system, this plastic finds ways to water bodies such as rivers, streams, oceans etc and affects aquatic and marine life.It also prevents fresh air from entering the soil, thus leading to retardation in plant growth. If burnt, it releases toxic gases polluting the air.We are so much accustomed to use of plastics in our life that we cannot completely do away with plastics in our life but we can reduce its use.We need to reduce, reuse and recycle. Then there is air pollution, noise pollution, radioactive pollution which are polluting the environment and posing great threats to life on this planet. Therefore, the need of the hour is to realise the gravity of situation and take measures to check degradation of environment.
Trees need to be planted in large number on the uncovered land to make good the loss caused due to deforestation and make this planet a greener and cleaner one.Reducing dependence on personal vehicles and using public transport more often too can help in preservation of environment.Alternative sources of energy such as Wind energy, tidal energy geo thermal energy etc be promoted and emission of Carbon dioxide and other gases reduced drastically by relying less on the fossil fuels.Creating awareness in the masses about the reckless use of plastics and other pollutants needs to be prioritised.Using jute or cloth bags instead of plastic bags too can help a lot in keeping environment clean and pollution free. All these steps must be taken now as tomorrow it may be too late.
Yours etc….
