Charlie Puth turned down ‘American Idol’ when life got crazy

LOS ANGELES, Oct 10:Singer Charlie Puth says he rejected the offer to judge “American Idol” as he found the schedule too overwhelming.

The 25-year-old musician said he had no issues with the makers but it was not possible for him to take up the job as his personal life was in a mess, reports Entertainment Tonight.

“The schedule got too overwhelming. It’s nothing to do with (the network)… ABC is wonderful and I told them I would love to be in business with them in the future. (I was in talks) and then things in my life got crazy,” says Puth.

The “We Don’t Talk Anymore” hitmaker, however, says he is excited about the reboot of the reality TV singing show.

“I can’t wait to watch it. It’s a huge honour that they asked me. The fact that they would even ask me to be a part of it is just beyond flattering because it’s a show I grew up watching and I know it’s going to be amazing without me,” he says.

With Katy Perry, Lionel Ritchie and Luke Bryan as mentors, “American Idol” airs next year. (PTI)
