Charges framed against VHO, driver in trap case

JAMMU, Dec 20: Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu, Puneet Gupta today framed corruption charges against Manohar Lal, the then Veterinary Officer Dogra Hall and his driver Jaswant Lal, who were caught red-handed by the Vigilance Organization on September 3, 2009 while accepting Rs 2000 as bribe.
According to the Vigilance case, on September 3, 2011 one Riyaz Ahmed Bhat, son of Gh Mohd Bhat of Christan Colony Jammu lodged a verbal report alleging therein that he was running a meat shop for last 4-5 years at Rail Head Complex Jammu. On September 3, 2011, M L Gupta Veterinary Health Officer JMC came to his shop and lifted the meat from his shop as the complainant was not paying Rs 2000 per month as bribe.
Upon this, Vigilance Organization registered a case and caught red-handed accused persons while accepting bribe from the complainant.
After hearing CPO Harminder Singh for the Vigilance Organization, Special Judge Anticorruption framed charges under Prevention of Corruption Act, 2006.
