JAMMU, Mar 26: Gulchain Singh Charak, former Minister, met Governor, N N Vohra, at Raj Bhavan here today.
Mr Charak discussed with the Governor issues arising from the delay in the conduct of elections to urban local bodies, enhancement of remunerations of Nambardars and Chowkidars and issues relating to the speedy economic development of the State.
Ch Bashir Ahmed Naaz, Vice Chairman, State Advisory Board for Development of Gujjars and Bakarwals also called on Mr. Vohra.
During their meeting, Ch. Naaz briefed the Governor about the functioning of the Board and the to-date status of the implementation of various schemes which have been launched for the socio-economic upliftment of Gujjars and Bakarwals in the State.
Rajesh Kumar, Inspector General of Police, Jammu Zone, also called on Mr Vohra.
During the meeting, the Governor discussed with Mr. Kumar issues pertaining to internal security management in the Jammu region, particularly including surveillance of the growing pilgrimage to Mata Vaishno Deviji Shrine.
This was Mr. Kumar’s first meeting with the Governor after recently taking over as the Inspector General of Police, Jammu Zone.
Meanwhile, Ajeet Kumar Sahu, Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, called on Mr. Vohra.
The Governor discussed various problems of the city with Mr. Sahu, particularly those relating to encroachments along the public pathways, roads and even the National Highway, problems arising out of inadequate traffic management, insanitary conditions caused by non-removal of garbage etc.
This was Mr Sahu’s first meeting with the Governor after recently taking over as the Deputy Commissioner, Jammu.
