JAMMU, May 12: The residents of Sector 5 of Channi Himmat Housing Colony today constituted a body in the name and style of ‘Forum for Harmony and Development’ to look after the development works and problems being faced by the people of the area.
SS Bijral, IGP (retd) was elected as patron, Dr Rakesh Khajuria as president, Omkar Sharma as general secretary and Sanjay Mohan Dutta as joint secretary while Deepak Sethi, Lalit Gupta, DK Sharma, VK Grover and Ashok Gupta were elected as members of the Forum.
The meeting observed that the lanes and drains in the area are in worst condition, as most of them have been collapsed and blocked as sweepers of the area do not perform their duty regularly. Heaps of garbage are lying along side the roads and lanes, but the sweepers do not bother to lift them even once in a week. They only perform their duty once in a month that too by charging a fee of Rs 100 from every household.
“Though the area is 100% metered, yet we have to face the frequent unscheduled power cuts, disturbing our normal life in this hot summer”, the speakers said, adding same is the case of water supply, which is also irregular.
