CHANDIGARH, Jun 3 : The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh (MCC) has achieved a remarkable milestone, recording its highest-ever annual property tax collection in fiscal year 2024-25.
Total property tax collected during this period stands at Rs 52.24 crore, a 21 per cent increase compared to previous year’s collection of Rs 43.21 crore (2023-24), and significantly higher than collections in preceding years: Rs 46.57 crore (2022-23), Rs 24.84 crore (2021-22), Rs 0.23 crore (2020-21) and Rs 31.55 crore (2019-20).
This achievement underscores MCC’s unwavering commitment to efficient revenue generation and effective tax administration.
Ms Anindita Mitra, the Municipal Commissioner, said that this is a testament to hard work and dedication of tax collection team, as well as civic responsibility demonstrated by residents and businesses of the city.
The record-breaking property tax collection will enable the Municipal Corporation to further strengthen the city’s infrastructure, improve public services and invest in overall development of Chandigarh, she said.
The MCC is committed to using these resources judiciously and transparently to benefit citizens, she added. (UNI)
