Chana futures gain 0.31% as demand picks up

NEW DELHI, May 18: Chana prices moved up by 0.31 per cent to Rs 3,615 per quintal in futures trade today as participants created fresh positions after uptick in demand in the spot market.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in May rose by Rs 11, or 0.31 per cent, to Rs 3,615 per quintal with an open interest of 3,060 lots.
Likewise, the commodity for delivery in June contract was trading higher by Rs 9, or 0.25 per cent, to Rs 3,630 per quintal in 1,12,270 lots.
Analysts attributed the rise in chana prices to fresh positions built up by traders, on the back of a rise in demand in the spot market, influenced chana prices in futures trade. (PTI)
