JAMMU, Oct 13: The former Union Minister, Prof Chaman Lal Gupta has sought effective measures to bring to an end the “Calendar Raj” of the agents of the cross border terror, who have made lakhs of peace loving people as their hostages in Kashmir and created a hell like situation in the Valley for over three months now.
Responding to the woes of the group of business men and transport operators, Prof Gupta said that in a democracy the activists have the right to protest and agitate their problems in a peaceful manner but there is limit to everything. “What is happening in Kashmir, it is hooliganism and lawlessness leading to anarchy. This must be dealt with firmly and the law of the land should prevail,” he stressed.
The persons coming from the valley narrated their plight that how the claimant of Azadi are slapping and thrashing to the even aged and respected citizens to enforce the “Calendar of protest”. They also explained that how thousands of people have become jobless and paupers because of hartal and violence.
Prof Gupta observed that all this appears to be a part of a bigger design and authorities must rise to the occasion.
“Business and development works could be resumed but the unrepairable damage is being done to the future of lakhs of youths whose educational institutions have been closed and even badly damaged by ultras,” he added and stressed that all out efforts should be made to save the future of the younger generation who are being made to act as stone pelters and indulging in unlawful acts.
Prof Gupta stressed the need for playing a positive role by the mainstream parties instead of becoming hostages of the elements playing in the hands of enemies of the people and that of the country.
