JAMMU, Oct 24: Chairperson Police Wives Welfare Association (PWWA), Dr Rubinder Kaur inaugurated Diwali Mela at PWWA petrol pump at Gandhi Nagar, here.
DGP Dilbag Singh also paid a visit to the venue and went to different stalls. He interacted with the PWWA members.
Police Welfare Centres of Jammu, Srinagar, Kathua and Police Departmental Store Jammu, prisons Department have put up their stalls of different items being produced in the Police Welfare Centres which included candles, dry fruits etc. The Mela has been organized in view of the forthcoming Diwali festival.
The aim of the Mela is to showcase the items produced by police welfare centers for sale. Police welfare centers are producing different items including hand made products and are put on sale to generate resources for the welfare of police martyr families.
At the inaugural ceremony Major General Sharad Kapur GoC 26 Infantry Division, IGP Jammu Mukesh Singh, IGP Armed Jammu, Danesh Rana, senior PWWA members Archana Choudhary, Shabnam Mir, Dr Jai Shree Tuti, Superintendent of Police Hospital Jammu, Dr Kriti Bushan Sharma, doctors of Police Hospital and police officers were present.
Police Welfare Centre Jammu has put up different items including various types of scented and decorative candles like votive candles, pillar candles, rose-shaped, marigold-shaped and sunflower-shaped candles, various kinds of light lamps (diyas), readymade garments, woolen kurties, chiken-work kurties, embroidered bed sheets, sweaters, napkins, thal covers, book covers, sweet box covers, saree covers, shawl bags, tea cozies, table clothes (Dastarkhan), 28-piece runners set for dining table, woolen items like baby sweaters, shawls, woolen stoles and ethnic artificial jewellery like jhumkes, necklace, bead mala, earrings and bangle sets.
Police Welfare Centre Srinagar, Police Welfare Centre Kathua and Prison Department have also put different kinds of stalls in this Diwali Mela.
