JAMMU, Jan 3: Chairman J&K Pollution Control Board Suresh Chugh today convened a meeting to deliberate upon finalization of Emergency Response System (ERS) at PCB head office here.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Neelu Gera, Director/Pr.CCF, Department of Ecology, Environment and Remote Sensing (DEERS) J&K, Jammu, B.M. Sharma, Member Secretary, Simrandeep Singh, Secretary to Govt. Disaster Management, Relief and Rehabilitation. Dr. Syed Nadeem Hussain, Regional Director, Jammu, Mohd Rafi, Regional Director Kashmir and Sh. Parveen Kumar, Meteorologist, Meteorological Department, J&K Jammu.
The Chairman PCB briefed the officers about the directions of the NGT dated 20-11-2019 with regard to the formulation of ERS.
In the meeting, it was decided that a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) with respect to pollution related emergency will be prepared at an earliest and submitted to the State Executive Committee headed by the Chief Secretary to be included in the Disaster Management Plan.
The Secretary, Disaster Management, Relief and Rehabilitation, informed that Control Rooms created for disaster management have been established at each district headquarter and Meteorologist informed that the department is planning to install one most advanced forecast system, which will monitor ambient air pollution.
Both the Secretary, Disaster Management, Relief and Rehabilitation and Meteorologist assured their full support and cooperation in the preparation and finalization of the ERS for pollution related emergencies.
