SRINAGAR, Feb 2: Police have registered a case under Arms Act against chairman of Municipal Committee Ashmuqam in district Anantnag for making the vice chairman of the MC hostage at gunpoint and forcibly taking signatures on blank papers.
An official said that vice chairman of Municipal Committee Ashmuqam in district Anantnag, Muhammad Ashraf Wani, had filed a complaint with police at Police Station Ashmuqam in Anantnag district stating that chairman Municipal Committee Ashmuqam Abdul Waheed Bhat abducted him in his vehicle and kept him at an unknown place.
“Abdul Waheed Bhat pointed an AK 47 rifle towards me. I was terrified and thought he would kill me. He ordered me to sign some blank papers. I had no option but to sign those papers,” Wani writes in his complaint. He requested police to get those 20 blank papers signed by him back from Bhat.
Wani said he was terrified and narrated the incident to her wife who suggested him to report to the police.
Acting on Wani’s complaint police took the cognizance and a case (FIR vide number 9/2021 under Sections 506, 364, 420, 7/25 Arms Act) has been registered against Bhat in PS Ashmuqam. Police are investigating the matter.
Waheed is a BJP leader who joined the saffron party few years back.
