JAMMU, Apr 15: Following the mandate set by the National Legal Services Authority (NLSA), the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) in Samba convened its inaugural Under-trial Review Committee (UTRC) meeting for 2024.
Led by Principal District & Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman, DLSA Samba, Adnan Sayeed, the committee embarked on its mission to enhance the efficacy and impact of UTRC meetings by adhering to a fixed quarterly schedule, initiated by NLSA on April 8, 2024.
During the session, the committee meticulously scrutinized 13 cases of under-trial prisoners, as identified by the Secretary of DLSA Samba. Out of these, two cases were deemed eligible for recommendation for release.
Attending the meeting were key officials, including the Secretary of DLSA Samba, Additional DC Samba representing the Deputy Commissioner, and the Senior Superintendent of Police Samba.
Further amplifying the discussion were representatives from District Jail Kathua, District Jail Jammu, and Central Jail Kot Bhalwal Jammu, who joined virtually, ensuring comprehensive coverage and engagement on the matters at hand.
