JAMMU, Apr 28: A 220 page document – Pensioners’ Journal 2014 and Members’ Directory 2014 of the Association were released by Central Government Pensioners’ Welfare Association (CGPWA) in its annual general meeting held here today at Jammu Club.
The documents were released by chief guest, Padam Shri, Prof Ved Kumar Ghai, along with office bearers of the Association. Later, copies of the Journal were distributed to all those present in the meeting.
The chief guest in her elaborate address talked on Gandhian Philosophy and lauded the efforts being put in by the Association for welfare of the civil society, particularly senior citizens and pensioners.
Dr NK Sharma, a noted Yoga Exponent and Naturopath, delivered an educating lecture on Naturopathy for Elders which was received very well by the audience.
The House also adopted some Amendments in the Constitution and Bye-laws of the Association, the draft of which was approved by 24 members in its in-house weekly meeting of March 10, 2014 after detailed discussions.
The Association felicitated Prof Ghai on conferment of well deserved Padam Award to her, and honoured its two senior members-ON Koul and HR Magotra with Jeyshth Vrishth Nagrik Award, on attaining 80 years of age.
Later, the Association also elected its new team of office bearers for 2014-2017 with SS Wazir as president, BK Raina as vice president, JK Vaid as general secretary, RL Kampasi as secretary and HN Raina as treasurer. VP Sharma was nominated as patron of the Association while Prem Gupta, Gh Qadir Bacha, SIH Qazmi, Ashok Kumar Sharma and Prith Pal Sharma were elected as executive members of the Association.
Earlier, JK Vaid conducted the proceedings and presented the Annual General Report for the year 2013-2014 while SS Wazir gave the welcome address. VP Sharma also addressed the meeting.
