NEW DELHI, Mar 10: The Centre has no role in granting parole or prevent its misuse, Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju informed the Lok Sabha today.
Responded to a supplementary during Question Hour, he said, “Parole and jail management is a state subject. “However, on recommendations of various panels and bodies on jail reforms, the Centre forwards suggestions and advisories time to time,” he said when Shiv Sena Member Rahul Shewale said there was misuse of parole in the case of Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt. “The court is there to see to it and decide, “ Mr Rijiju said.
