JAMMU, May 20: Union Minister in PMO with independent charge of North Eastern Region, Dr Jitendra Singh today said that Narendra Modi Government at Centre is committed to equitable development of all three regions of the State and there has been no discrimination with any region of the State during the four years rule by the present dispensation at Centre.
Addressing a function organized by Dharam Jagran Manch at Trikuta Nagar here, this afternoon, Dr Jitendra Singh lashed out at those opposition parties who are trying to mislead the people that Jammu region continues to face discrimination during the present Modi Government.
“Such allegations are politically motivated and totally baseless as present Government at Delhi tried its best that all three regions of the State should get their equal share in development for progress and welfare of its masses”, he added.
Pooh-poohing such allegations, he said many new schemes and projects were introduced for this region by Modi Government and funds allocated for the region are in no way less than the figures given to other region.
He, without naming any party or leader, said some disgruntled opposition leaders who have been rejected by the masses are making oft repeated allegations that Jammu region is facing continuous discrimination while as a matter of fact some new projects which were sanctioned by the Modi Government for Jammu region have not been yet started in Kashmir valley.
In this regard, he cited the example of Biotech Park at Ghati Kathua, first seed procession plant at Kathua, Cable Stayed bridge at Basholi first of its kind in North India, first IIT and IIM for Jammu, first river cleaning project for Devika Udhampur, three passport offices in different districts of Jammu region, i.e Kathua, Udhampur and Poonch.
He said Jammu got first RUSA Engineering College at Kathua, first Radio Station for Udhampur, weather forecasting plant at Katra ,while out of Rs 3800 crore sanctioned by Central Government under PMGSY road schemes for this financial year, Jammu got major share of Rs 2100 crore.
Besides, the Pakal Dul Power Project in Kishtwar district, the foundation of which was laid by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi yesterday is also in Jammu region. The Jammu has highest Railway bridge in Reasi district, he added.
“These were all additional projects approved for this region”, he said and asked the people to reject such leaders who are misleading them for their vested interests.
Dr Jitendra Singh said that Modi not only ensured equitable financial and fiscal aid for all the three regions of the State but also tried to ensure equitable psychological attention to the three regions. This is the reason that PM held programmes in all three regions Ladakh, Kashmir and Jammu yesterday, he added.
Dr Jitendra Singh accused the terrorists of not respecting the teachings of holy Quran by resorting to violations in fasting month of Ramzan. “The onus of maintaining ceasefire in this holy month lies on those who claim to be believers of Islam and teachings of holy Quran which preach that there should be no violence in this fasting month and no body should be harmed are being violated by terrorists themselves”, he added.
Paying glowing tributes to Maharana Partap, he said though there are misgivings in public life still some leaders have set an example by sacrifices and self effacement. In this regard, he cited the example of Lok Nayak, Jai Parkash Narayan a veteran freedom fighter who turned down the offer of Deputy Prime Ministership made to him by the then Prime Minister, Jawahar Lal Nehru because of his ideological differences with later.
Dr Jitendra Singh said former Prime Minister, Morarji Deasi also resigned as Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister in the Government of Indira Gandhi on differences of bank nationalization.
He said in present time Narendra Modi reiterated to serve nation and not to run the Government just to stay in power. The bold decision of demonetization taken by Prime Minister proves beyond the doubt that Modi works with conviction and not for electoral gains.
The function was also addressed by Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Sat Sharma who paid glowing tributes to Maharana Partap and highlighted his role. He asked the people to be vigilant against the forces inimical the national cause.
Param Vir Chakar, Bana Singh and Rajput Sabha president Narayan Singh were also present in the function which among others was addressed by Rakesh, Dharam Jagran chief.
Rakesh said the time has come to strengthen the social fabric to built healthy and strong nation. He reminded the contribution of Maharana Partap who united the divided society of India at that time and fought war with evading Mughals. Some forces are inimical to divide the people of the country on the name of caste, colour and creed for vested interests to weaken the nation, he added.
