JAMMU, Aug 16: Various Central and State Government Departments and Public Sector Undertakings celebrated the Independence Day with enthusiasm and fervour.
Income Tax Department organized a function at Aayakar Bhawan to celebrate the Independence Day. A K Thatai, Commissioner of Income Tax unfurled the National Flag in the presence of departmental officers and staff, Chartered Accountants, Advocates, representatives from trade bodies.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Thatai said, “the meaning of the independence is to be taken in the right perspective where assessees are aware of their rights and also conscious towards their duties”, adding “if the department welcomes the assessees by extending them best possible facilities, it also expects them to fulfill the obligation by paying their due taxes to the department as taxes paid by them are utilized for development work of the State as well as country”.
Sanjay Misra, Commissioner of Income Tax (Appeals), J&K also addressed the gathering while as R K Kakkar, JCIT welcomed the guests.
CA Sudhir Wali, Chairman NIRC Jammu, Sat Mehta, President Income Tax Bar Association, Vikrant Kuthiala, PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Jammu and Vinod Sharma, President ITEF also spoke on the occasion.
S K Sharma, JCIT presented vote of thanks while as Rakesh Kumar, DCIT and B B Gupta, ITO jointly conducted proceedings of the function.
The Independence Day celebration functions were also held in Income Tax Offices at Srinagar, Anantnag, Udhampur and Kathua.
The Independence Day was celebrated by the office of the Executive Director, Regional office, Jammu at NHPC Office Complex at Narwal with enthusiasm. All the employees and CISF personnel participated in the function.
Jatinder Singh, Executive Director hoisted the National Flag and later addressed the employees. He recalled the martyrs of freedom struggle and advised the employees to work hard with dedication for the progress and prosperity of the nation.
Similar function was also organized at Dul Hasti Power Station, Kishtwar where Arvind Bhat, General Manager hoisted the National Flag.
Doordarshan Kendra Jammu celebrated the Independence Day with traditional gaiety and fervour. Tricolor was unfurled by Director Doordarshan Shabir Mujahid in studio premises in the presence of entire engineering and programme professionals besides the persons from administrative section. R K Jarangal, Director Engineering hoisted the flag at transmitters.
Speaking on the occasion, Shabir Mujahid stressed the need to create a sense of belonging towards the nation.
The day was also celebrated with fervour at District Jail Poonch where National Flag was unfurled by Superintendent of Jail, Bushan Lal Bali.
