JAMMU, Aug 9: District Administration Jammu, on behalf of President of India, today felicitated centenarian freedom fighter, Punjab Singh (102), son of Kore Singh of Village Kotli Bhagwan Singh, tehsil R S Pura.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Dr Tahir Firdous, alongwith Sub Divisional Magistrate R S Pura, Ram Lal Sharma and Tehsildar R S Pura visited the home of the freedom fighter to honour him.
Freedom fighter, Punjab Singh, was honored with a shawl and Angavastaram to mark the Independence Day felicitation by President of India.
While speaking on the occasion, the ADC said that “freedom fighters contributed invaluably to the freedom struggle and we are all grateful and bow our head before them for their sacrifices, dedication and passion. It is our responsibility to express our respect towards them”.
