JAMMU, June 11: Dr Sandesh Mayekar, known as celebrity dentist of India, today delivered his lecture on functional smile design, anterior aesthetics, holistic treatment planning and dental practice management in Jammu.
Dr Mayekar has done his MDS from Mumbai and his MS in TMD and Orofacial Pain from Tufts University in Boston. He introduced esthetic dentistry in India and lectures extensively nationally and internationally.
He is founder president of the Indian Academy of Aesthetic and Cosmetic Dentistry. He is a past president of the Asian Academy of Aesthetic Dentistry and has authored several articles on esthetic dentistry.
Dr Mayekar is Adjunct Professor at the New Jersey College of Medicine and Dentistry in the Department of Restorative Dentistry and is Consultant/Advisor to the Armed Forces Medical Services of India. He is also author of a book titled ‘More than a Mouthful: The Adventures of a Dentist’, which is fore worded by Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar.
Some of his clients from Bollywood film industry include Priyanka Chopra, Hrithik Roshan, Sushmita Sen, Tanushree Dutta, Nagma, Diya Mirza and many more.
Dr Gautam Sharma, ex-president of IDA, said that despite Dr Mayekar’s busy schedule and prior commitments he has come for this world class event which has greatly benefitted the dentist community of Jammu.
Dr. Rajiv Mengi, President Indian Dental Association (IDA), Jammu, welcomed Dr. Sandesh Mayekar by presenting him a memento and a bouquet of flowers.
Dr Rajesh Ahal and Dr Aayush Sharma from IDA Jammu, felicitated Anupam Jain, Regional Manager, Colgate India and Sumeet Gandotra, Colgate’s oral care consultant, respectively, who were present during the event.
Dr Bhupinder Singh, secretary, IDA, said that dentistry has grown to a large family in J&K and at least 400-500 dentists are added per year. He also said that various top dental PG coaching institutes have come up at Jammu.
