JAMMU, Mar 11: Chief Executive Councilor of LAHDC Leh, Rigzin Spalbar today sought intervention of Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh in keeping check on extraordinary air fare on Delhi-Leh route.
In a communiqué addressed to Prime Minister, Mr Spalbar said, “due to extraordinary air fare on Delhi-Leh route, people of Ladakh have been facing numerous difficulties”, adding “on one side limited air service and on the other side expensive air fare is creating problem for the people of the region, which remains cut off from rest of the country for several months”.
Mr Spalbar has apprised the Prime Minister of the long pending demand of subsidizing air fare for the people of Ladakh on the pattern of North-East in view of region’s economic backwardness and geographic connectivity.
