LEH, Sept 3: Chief Executive Councillor (CEC), LAHDC, Rigzin Spalbar met Chairman JKBOSE, Prof Zahur Ahmed and discussed the issues pertaining to Board of School Education in Leh district.
EC Health, EC Higher Education, Prof Vinaa Pandita, Secretary Bose and Kanis Fatima, Director Academic, CEO-Leh, Principal DIET and officials of BOSE, Leh were also present.
CEC highlighting some of the important issues requested the Chairman to conduct board exam for 10th and 12th standards in October-November as earlier in the district with separate date-sheets for Leh and Kargil districts.
Prof Zahur stating the previous year was abnormal because of the flood in Kashmir valley committed to hold the exams in the first week of November for current session simultaneously for both 10th and 12th classes.
CEC said that land allotted to BOSE has not been used till date and in response the Chairman assured to start with construction of the office building next year.
Pointing out the problems faced by students to go to Srinagar or Jammu for spelling correction and other small issues, Spalbar urged the Chairman to dedicate possible authority to the local board officers to take decisions and handle minor issues. He also stressed on the need to strengthen the board in Leh district with vehicle facility to improve the status of board and enable them to work more efficiently. He made the request to set the board curriculum for Leh considering the socio, economic geographic and cultural background of the region which is relevant for the students of Ladakh.
Pof Zahur stressed on the need to have greater communication between the Sub-Office in Leh and the centre office of the State. He ensured that no student will need to go outside Ladakh for minor problems and expressed positive sign of improving the board in district with support from local council and education fraternity.
Kanis Fatima, Director Academic expressed the need to promote the schemes provided under BOSE on scholarships, etc among the people in remote areas for their maximum benefit.
