LEH, Sept 21: Chief Executive Councilor of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Rigzin Spalbar today sought assistance from the Union Government on the pattern of North East for establishment of Information Technology Park here.
Chairing a meeting, which was attended by Dr C V D Ram Parsad, Director STPI Noida, Asim Khan, Additional Director STPI Srinagar, ADC, Leh, Tsering Murup, Conservator Forest Jigmet Takpa, Technical Director NIC, Jamyang Namgyal, Executive Engineer Construction, Tashi Chombel, the CEC said that land measuring 9 kanals and 18 marlas has already been allotted for setting up of IT Park at Changspa.
“The absence of essential technology enabled services and facilities in the region leaves the region handicapped in keeping pace with today’s globalized and modernized world and hampers the promotion of micro, small and medium entrepreneurs”, he said.
Mr Spalbar urged the visiting team of STPI to manage full support and requisite funds for the establishment of the IT Park in Leh from Union Government on the pattern of North East as the district runs on a meager fund allocation.
Putting forth certain issues, Asim Khan made a mention of taking the identified land for the ITP on lease from LAHDC by STPI as per their policy and soon MoU would be signed between LAHDC and STPI in this regard. He said that at present they will make the feasibility report forming a team comprising three members from STPI and two locals namely Jigmet Takpa and Jamyang Namgyal followed by the DPR. He urged CEC to form an executive body later to keep a check on misuse and pilferage of connectivity.
Director STPI Ram Parsad expressed hope that this IT Park would be ready within two years and that will make a great difference to Ladakh as it will enable the continuity of works even after closure of roads.
