CEC reviews progress of developmental works

Leh, Dec 23 : To review the progress of various developmental works in Jivetsal Choglamsar in view of Kalachakra Initiation 2014, the Chief Executive Councillor LAHDC, Leh Rigzin Spalbar convened a meeting at Council Secretariat today.
The meeting was attended by Army officers headed by GOC 14 Corps Major General Sanjay Kulkarni, DC, Leh Simrandeep Singh, President LBA, Dr. Tondup Tsewang, President, LGA Geshe Konchok Namgial, SE PWD, Executive Engineers from all wings of PWD, officers of Rural Development Department and members of LBA Youth and president All Ladakh Tour Operators Association.
The CEC while addressing the meeting said that it is an opportunity for Leh to host Kalachakra next year and there should be no lapses in preparations and arrangements. He said that 150,000 to 2 lakh devotees are expected to vist Ladakh during the sermon and it is a big responsibility of LAHDC and the District Administration for overall arrangements. He said that LAHDC is spending Rs 8 crore on infrastructure development at Jivetsal.
Major General Sanjay Kulkarni assured the CEC and Presidents LBA and LGA to extend full support to make the arrangements a grand success. He asked the President LBA/LGA to identify the works which are needed to be done through Army so that the Army can start the earth works during winter season. He also put forth some valuable suggestions to conduct the sermon peacefully.
He said that Army is fully determined to procure maximum agricultural products including vegetables and fruits from locals producers in future too according to the availability of the items.
The Deputy Commissioner, Leh Simrandeep Singh while addressing the meeting said that the district administration is preparing a plan from airport to Jivetsl which will be completed in the middle of January 2014.
LBA president Dr. Tundup Tsewang while speaking in the meeting said that Army is the main stake holder for supporting the district administration.
Later, the CEC along with GOC visited the 19th Bakula Shradhanjali Park where the statue of 19th Bakula Rinpoche would be installed.
