KARGIL, July 11: In order to discuss the modalities and preparations for conduct of online examinations for various Undergraduate (UG) regular and backlog examinations of the students of Kargil and Drass under the University of Ladakh, scheduled to be held in the current month, Chairman and Chief Executive Councilor LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmed Khan convened a meeting of the Executive Councilors and concerned officers at Council Secretariat here today.
During the course of the meeting, the concerned officers of the UoL and the Principals of the two colleges apprised the CEC and the ECs about the set pattern of examination to be adopted this year keeping in view the COVID-19 situation.
The officers concerned informed the meeting that the examinations of more than 5000 UG regular and backlog students would be conducted through the Assignment System, Telephonic Viva and Online Exams which are scheduled to be conducted from 27th to 29th July, 2020.
The CEC and the ECs while appreciating this initiative of the UoL and the college Principals said that the LAHDC Kargil would extend proactive support to ensure that the exams are conducted in the most conducive and hassle free manner.
Regarding the availability of internet facilities for the students of rural and far off areas in the district to participate in the online exams, the CEC gave on spot instructions to the Director Rural Development Ladakh to keep all VSATs at the Panchayat Ghars in complete readiness well before the scheduled examination dates besides also allowing students access to the Panchayat Ghars and the VSAT systems available there for the online exams.
Internet facilities if not available in any case at the time of exams should not become an excuse for a student to miss out his/her exams, rather the student can visit a near and dear or relative in an internet or mobile network zone during the exam days, the concerned officers said.
Executive Councilor for Social Welfare Aga Syed Mujtaba Mosavi, Executive Councilor for Works Mubarak Shah Nagvi, Executive Councilor for Agriculture Muhammad Ali Chandan, Director Rural Development Ladakh Tahir Hussain, Principal Degree College Kargil Dr Amina Qari, Principal Degree College Drass and Dean Students Welfare University of Ladakh (UoL) Professor Amjad Ali, Coordinator Examinations UoL Professor Mehboob Ali besides other concerned officers attended the meeting.
