*Slow progress in removing encroachments

DODA, Feb 4: Brigadier AK Dass, Chief Engineer (CE), Project Beacon along with Col Vishal Sharma and OC Bhadarwah, Sunil Kumar inspected road works of GREF in Bhaderwah Sector.
Dass expressed satisfaction with the state of preparedness for the oncoming snow fall and snow clearance operations. While speaking on the occasion, he said that he was happy with the quality and speed of road works.
He said that despite challenges of adverse weather conditions of terrain and slow progress in removing of encroachments, the work of double laning of Basoli-Bani-Bhaderwah Road to National Highway specifications is progressing satisfactorily and targets assigned to Project Beacon would be achieved timely.
Dass said that expediting forest clearances and land acquisitions would provide the synergy required between Border Roads and the State Administration, thereby giving a fillip to the road construction.
He also inspected Puneja bridge and Shivarighat bridges which are under construction on Puldoda-Bhaderwah Road, where the work is in full swing and directed his officers for the speedy completion of both the bridges within the present working season.
