Srinagar, Oct 7: Finance Minister Dr Haseeb Drabu today informed the Legislative Council that a proposal is under consideration of the Government to relax the norms for spending of Constituency Development Fund (CDF) by the legislators.
Replying to the discussion on the Resolution moved by Ghulam Nabi Monga for enhancement of CDF, the Minister said that the enhancement of CDF is also under consideration of the Government. The Finance Minister ruled out the enhancement as of now, saying “we are facing fiscal crisis”. He said the State is facing more than Rs 10,000 crore liability and slammed the previous coalition.
Earlier, while moving the resolution, Monga had sought enhancement of CDF from the existing Rs 1.5 crore to Rs 3 crore for effective implementation of developmental works. The resolution was seconded by Romesh Arora.
The legislator after receiving assurance from the Minister for Finance withdrew the resolution.
