JAMMU, Nov 29: Young artists enthralled audiences at the Auditorium of Government College for Women, Parade Jammu in a unique programme ‘Young Tarang-II’, organized by Indian Council for Cultural Relations under its Horizon series.
Featuring diverse performances, the programme showcased the best of young talents in music, dance and drama.
Welcoming the guests, Regional Director of ICCR Jammu, Balwant Thakur gave a brief resume of the objectives of ICCR and its multifaceted activities spread across the world. Giving details about the programme ‘Young Tarang’, he informed that on a popular demand IInd series of the event is being held to accommodate best of the talents in performing arts.
Today’s programme was a mix of diverse performance and opened with a solo Dogri dance presented by Sonali Verma. The highlight of the event was a play presentation ‘Andhe Kaane’ written by Dr Atamjeet and directed by Neeraj Kant.
The play, in a very symbolic manner, reveals the real condition of all of us. It is a hard hitting satire which gives immense reason to us to believe that we are not left with sensitivity any more. Being blind suggests that we are not able to see and recognize the reality around us.
This followed a Dogri group Dance which mesmerized everyone in the audience. The programme reached to an ultimate climax when Sonali Dogra with her heart rendering singing made everyone to sing and dance. Sonali Dogra is credited for having the credit of being the finalist of famous programme ‘Voice of India’. Her superb performance received standing ovation.
The artists who participated in the programme included Radhika Sharma, Rupashi Wazir, Suneedhi Sharma, Rashmi Jasrotia, Sheetal Sharma, Kajal Thakur, Sabba Khan, Sneha Kaul, Sonakshi Bali, Ayushi Parihar, Meenakshi Bhagat, Vandhana Subh, Vanya Bagga, Rashika Suri, Shikha Zutshi, Preeti Sharma, Sonali Pandita, Saloni Verma, Sarabjeet Kour and Sonali Dogra.
Prominent among those who attended the function included Prof Amrit Kaur, Prof Anupama Sharma, Prof Neera Dalla and Prof Nidhi Kotwal.
The programme was anchored by Sonia Giri and Palvi Bakshi and coordinated by Dr Kuldeep Raina.
