JAMMU, Feb 28: Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI), Jammu has welcomed the decision of Union Railway Ministry to create new Railway Division at Jammu.
In a press statement issued here today president Jammu Chamber, Y V Sharma while extending gratitude to the Union Railway Minister said that creation of new Railway Division at Jammu will strengthen the fast expanding rail network in the State and the decisions regarding local issues of the Railways will be taken fast. He said the Jammu Railway Station has acquired eminence as the trains from all over the country are reaching Jammu carrying the pilgrims and tourists to pay obeisance at Mata Vaishno Devi and Baba Amarnathji besides enjoying holidays in the State.
The CCI chief said that by bifurcating the Ferozepur Division and creating new Division at Jammu the Union Railway Ministry has fulfilled the aspirations of the people of Jammu besides streamlining the running of trains to and fro Jammu will also open new avenues for generating employment opportunities to the locals. It will also give impetus to the construction of rail line between Katra and Banihal.
The Jammu Chamber members including Sham Lal Langar, Anil Gupta, Arun Gupta and others urged upon the Union Railway Ministry to consider its decision and honour the old commitment of examining the feasibility and expansion of rail network to Rajouri and Poonch districts. They also demanded setting up of Rail Coach Factory and a Rail Engine Workshop between Jammu and Kathua, operation of new trains between Jammu and Bangaluru-Hyderabad and between Jammu and Chandigarh at the earliest.
