JAMMU, Oct 31: Chamber of Commerce and Industry Jammu has expressed strong resentment against the attitude of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) for sealing of shops on the festive occasion.
A delegation of CCI Jammu led by its senior vice president Sham Lal Langar and secretary general Arun Gupta met the Commissioner JMC, Kiran Wattal, in his office Chamber here today and expressed their displeasure over the move of sealing shops. They made it clear that they were against the adulteration but at the same time were equally concerned over the sealing of the shops as the shopkeepers wait for an year for Diwali and other festivals so that they could get some brisk business. But unfortunately with the drive launched by the JMC and its move to seal the shops the whole business community is under the grip of panic.
The delegation suggested the JMC officers to stop this practice of sealing shops on the festive occasion and go for challans or take other measures if they find any default.
Commissioner JMC assured the Chamber delegation that there will not be sealing of shops during the on going festive occasion and also asked the Chamber to educate the traders/ shopkeepers to maintain food standards and quality parameters.
