JAMMU, July 14: Delegations of Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) Jammu, PHD Chamber and other trade bodies held interaction with the Commissioner, J&K State Taxes Department and other senior officers and projected their issues here today.
The CCI Jammu president, Arun Gupta accompanied by office bearers namely Anil Gupta, senior vice president Rajesh Gupta, secretary while interacting with the Commissioner State Taxes, demanded that the limit of the e-way bills should be enhanced from Rs. 50000 to Rs. 1 lakh. Gupta further said that the goods which are shifted from godowns /cold storage to shops should be treated as stock transfer.
He also apprised the Commissioner that as per Industrial Policy the Industrial units in UT of J&K are getting GST reimbursement, but sometimes the refund process is delayed due to one reason or the other. He demanded that GST reimbursement should be in a time bound manner.
CCI president further said the goods which are imported from other states and if shifting of stock is mentioned on the bill from one place to other place, there should be no need to generate a fresh e-way bill. Gupta also said that the government has earlier announced VAT Amnesty Scheme giving an opportunity to the defaulter of VAT to deposit their dues without interest and penalties during Covid-19. But due to continued lockdown and financial crunch some traders could not avail the benefit of the scheme. Those traders be provided opportunity to deposit their VAT dues without interest.
He said some businessmen were doing their business by carrying the goods and delivering the same door to door since long but after the introduction of GST these people are not allowed to carry on their business. These businessmen be allowed do their business. Certain businessmen like scrap dealers are unnecessarily being harassed by the department and it should be stopped.
PHDCCI delegation led by its chairman, Rahul Sahai and accompanied by senior members Anil Mahajan and Shantu Gupta during interactive session also raised issues of the business community. Sahai said the businessmen of Jammu are paying their taxes diligently. He said department should let dealers to work in a free environment, as more and more they will work, more tax would be realised.
Sahai stressed for timely SGST reimbursement to Industry and suggested that department should ask Finance department to keep 50% budget provision in advance for reimbursement of SGST. He projected the issue of one time relaxation to small scale unit holders whose GST numbers were cancelled due to non-filing of nil returns of GST during Covid period. He said Department can also consider giving new GST number on same pan number. He further said that early disposal of appeal cases should be done to give justice. Sahai also demanded introduction of fresh Amnesty scheme for pending arrears of VAT and old GST which is long pending issue of trade and commerce sector of J&K.
