The Chamber and other bodies had urged upon the Government to extend the date of depositing of VAT in view of recent rains and floods and extensive damage suffered by the traders, industrialists and others connected to it.
CCI president explained the logic behind the demand. He claimed that the business community has been affected directly or indirectly in one way or the other in view of floods and rains. The members claimed that the total   business has come to a halt  and it shall take a lot of time   for the trade  and the industry  to recover from the economic losses suffered on this account.
The officers said that they will discuss the matter with the Finance Minister and Chief Minister for a final decision in this regard. Mr Suri and other members expressed hope that the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Finance Minister A R Rather  would be kind enough to provide some relief to the trade and industry by taking a positive decision in this regard.  It is also hoped that an SRO in this regard would be issued shortly.
