CCI deputation meets Com HUDD, discusses Bahu Plaza lease issues

JAMMU, Apr 17: A deputation of Chamber of Commerce & Industry Jammu along with Bahu Plaza shopkeepers led by its president, Arun Gupta met with Commissioner/ Secretary of the Housing and Urban Development Department (HUDD), Mandeep Kaur to discuss several pressing issues affecting the local business community and the residents.
President strongly urged the Commissioner/Secretary to direct the JDA to put the current cancellation notices for 34 shops at Bahu Plaza on hold. It was highlighted that these lease holders have been operating since their allotment in 2005 and have a consistent record of paying their rent.
Chamber emphasized that there have been no disputes for nearly two decades, the lease holders deserve a formal hearing to present their case before any drastic administrative action is taken.
Arun Gupta also raised the long standing issues regarding the bifurcation of plots in Gandhi Nagar, the JCCI requested to streamline the process to resolve the administrative hurdles currently facing property owners in the area.
The Commissioner listened to the concerns raised by CCI leadership and assured the deputation that the department is committed to a fair resolution.
She further said that a dedicated meeting would be convened shortly to specifically address and settle these issues in a time bound manner.
CCI expresses hope that the intervention would provide much needed relief to the affected shopkeepers and residents.
