JAMMU, May 4: The Special Crime Wing (SCW) of the Crime Branch (CB) Jammu has registered a case against one person for allegedly securing a Government job and claiming immovable property through forged documents and misappropriation of his parentage.
The accused has been identified as Krishan Chand of Village Patoli Brahamana, tehsil Jammu North, District Jammu.
As per an official document in possession of the Excelsior, the case was registered following a complaint lodged by one Kamal Bhugol of Barnai Road, Gurah Keran, Tehsil Jammu North.
According to the complaint, the accused allegedly projected himself as the son of Nand Lal by manipulating official records, including birth records and voter lists, despite having no legal relation with the family.
It said he used a forged State Subject certificate bearing File No. 1862 of 1976 to obtain employment in the Education Department and later staked claim over property left behind by Nand Lal.
The complaint further stated that earlier voter lists of 1971 and 1975 did not reflect the names of the accused or his mother, and their entries surfaced only in later years under suspicious circumstances.
The complaint also alleged that after the death of Nand Lal, his property was legally inherited by his nephew through revenue mutation, but the accused subsequently raised disputes on the basis of alleged forged documents.
It was further claimed that the accused has been harassing the complainant, who had purchased land from the legal heirs in 2009.
During preliminary enquiry, Crime Branch found discrepancies in official records, including the reported non-existence of the State Subject certificate in Government records.
The complaint said the enquiry prima facie established offences of forgery, cheating and criminal conspiracy.
Accordingly, it said, a formal case was registered under sections 465, 466, 468, 471 and 120-B RPC at Police Station Special Crime Wing, Crime Branch Jammu, with further investigation in the case entrusted to DySP Deepak Jasrotia.
